Turmeric: The Golden Superfood – 8 Reasons for Daily Use

Superfood &and potential protection for the whole body: Turmeric

The turmeric plant originates from India and Southeast Asia and is also known as yellow root or Indian saffron. In Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), turmeric has been used as a medicinal plant for over 3,000 years. Today, turmeric is internationally recognized as a vital and nutrient-rich plant product. The German Medicines Regulation currently lists "digestive disorders" as the main area of application for turmeric root.

The most important active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin. This substance is said to have anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and cancer-inhibiting effects.

The following effects are attributed to turmeric:

  • activates digestion / lowers cholesterol
  • anti-inflammatory effects on reactive body processes
  • promotes the body's own detoxification processes in the liver
  • has therapeutic and preventive effects on tumors
  • ensures natural regulation of blood sugar levels
  • relieves rheumatic and arthritic joint complaints

Many international studies have focused on this superfood. Remarkable discoveries have been made. Approximately 3,000 studies have specifically investigated the potential healing effects of curcumin in cancer . The results led to recommendations from the German, Austrian, and American societies for oncology to include turmeric in cancer therapy support.

It is believed that curcumin may be helpful in cancer diseases by:

  • acting as an antioxidant to inhibit cancer development / stimulating the immune system
  • preventing the mutation of pre-disposed cells into cancer cells / inhibiting the formation and spread of metastases
  • preventing the development of blood vessels in tumor tissue
  • making the cell membrane of cancer cells more permeable, thus supporting chemotherapy and radiation therapy

We add black pepper (piperine) to our turmeric capsules. Why?

Simply because the combination of curcumin with piperine can enhance potential health benefits. Additionally, this mixture ensures that the body absorbs the valuable ingredients more easily.

Even in larger quantities, turmeric is generally free of side effects. In individual cases, however, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or gastrointestinal complaints may occur. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should refrain from using turmeric for safety reasons.
